Walking
I went for a walk last night. I only intended to walk around the block, but I kept thinking “just one more section”, and “I’ll just walk to [x landmark in the distance]”, and in the end I was out for nearly two hours.
Despite having lived here for nearly a year, but this was the first time I’d explored this part of the city. I found it rather run down, with rows of boarded up buildings, grotty looking businesses with names in the format [Name]’s [Company type], and not a friendly/happy face to be seen.
But all this just made me think that what I should do is take my camera with me more often. I went to Glastonbury this weekend, with camera almost constantly in my hand taking pictures, and that’s how it should be! For my next project, I’m intending to employ a gonzow-like style, not meaning that I’ll be in the pictures (necessarily), just that they’ll be more in-the-action, and less framed, etc. This is somewhat inspired by Zoldan King.
[…] Now that there is finally some content up there, it seems like a good time to introduce my most recent photo project, A Picture of Manchester. This is intended to be extremely light-weight, that is, I’m not desperately worried about the technical merit, more the content and feeling a shot provides. I’m not going so far as to call it gonzo, but that style is definitely part of the inspiration behind the project. […]
